Both a Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Sciences in Chemistry are offered. The B.A. is for students who want a substantive program in chemistry and the freedom to take more courses in other disciplines. The B.S. major is appropriate for students who are interested in chemistry as a profession. The chemistry department also offers degrees in specific areas of applied chemistry: chemical physics, environmental chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. These have a slightly less intense empahsis on chemistry, and draw on significant course materials from areas that are relevant to the particular emphasis but outside of a classical chemistry degree.

The interdisciplinary nature of the geology major prepares students for a wide variety of scientific and technical jobs, especially in the energy industry or in the environmental and consulting fields. To accommodate these various needs, we offer both the BS degree program for professionally oriented students, and the AB degree program for students who intend to pursue other objectives.

The mathematics major is designed to give students a solid footing with basic mathematical techniques along with a set of enrichment courses that allow a student to choose classes more tailored to their interests or professional goals. This major can also be used to prepare a student for a teaching position in mathematics.
This major equips a student with the important mathematical tools that are so necessary for: engineering, physics, economics, biology or statistics and many other scientific fields.
This major is focused on giving students both the mathematical and computer skills to solve the complicated problems that arise in academia and industry.
